In recent years, scientists have found that saffron flower contains the saffron acid (Crocin I), saffron (safranal), crocin (Crocin I) and saffron bitter element (Protocrocin) and so has a strong anti-cancer activity. Especially for blood cancer, papillary carcinoma, squamous cell tumors and soft tissue sarcoma and so has a strong inhibitory effect. The anticancer mechanism of inhibition of cancer cell DNA and RNA synthesis, inhibition of protein kinase activity and expression of the proto-oncogene, inhibit the carcinogenicity of benzo [a] pyrene and 12-O-14 acyl phosphorus ketone -13 acetate (TPA) toxicity of the substances at the molecular level to inhibit tumor formation. Semi-lethal dose of the cancer cells of 0.8 ~ 2muM toxicity is far less than retinoic acid, crocin and other anti-cancer active substances will become one of the best anti-cancer drugs of the 21st century.
